THE ROLE

We're looking for a junior, hands-on Lab Technician to join our R&D team. You'll work closely with and be mentored by our senior lab staff, taking ownership of routine analytical measurements, lab supplies, and day-to-day operations that keep our science moving.

This role is ideal for someone who has just finished their degree — or is in the final stretch — and wants to grow in a multidisciplinary biotech environment. We value precision, reliability, and a genuine curiosity for what happens at the bench.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

→ XRF measurements on mineral and process samples — a core, high-volume responsibility of this role.

→ Assist with purchasing: tracking reagent and consumable needs, placing orders, managing supplier communication.

→ Handle glassware and equipment cleaning, sterilization, and general lab upkeep.

→ Prepare reagents, buffers, and standard solutions following established SOPs.

→ Support sample preparation for analytical techniques (AAS, ICP, spectrophotometry).

→ Maintain accurate records in lab notebooks and inventory systems.

→ Assist senior scientists with experimental workflows as needed.

→ Ensure compliance with lab safety protocols and waste handling procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

REQUIRED

– Tertiary degree as Lab Technician (Técnico de Laboratorio), Chemical Technician, or equivalent — or a completed (or near-complete, thesis/final project stage) university degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, or related field. Active coursework not considered.

– At least one year of hands-on lab experience, academic or industrial.

– Comfort with quantitative, high-volume measurements and strong attention to detail.

– Organized, reliable, and able to manage repetitive analytical tasks with consistency.

– Good documentation habits and a safety-first mindset.

– Working English for reading technical protocols and instrument documentation.

NICE TO HAVE

– Prior exposure to XRF, AAS, ICP, or other elemental / mineralogical techniques.

– Experience with reagent inventory or lab purchasing processes.

– Familiarity with SOPs, GLP, or similar quality frameworks.
